Many times these are running buddies…find them together.
John 16:24 (NKJV) 24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
- It’s God’s will that we be full of joy.
- This joy comes by intimacy with God…communing with Him…relationship.
- There is the worldly joy…based on, is circumstances good…temporal
- There is God’s joy…fruit, who you are in the spirit…circumstances don’t matter…eternal
- There’s a joy seeing God work in your life…answered prayer.
- EX: we had little money for paint…to move we needed to paint…Sharjah worked at Lowes in the paint department…miss mixed paint $5/gal…she had 3gal the perfect match.
Philippians 4:4-7 (NKJV) 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Romans 14:17 (NKJV) 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
- People think they can’t have joy without booze, marijuana, etc.…outside stimuli
- Peace and joy are in the Holy Spirit…not things, success, a spouse, etc.
Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope (expectation and confidence) fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope (expectation and confidence) by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Hope – from a primary elpo (to anticipate, usually with pleasure); expectation (abstract or concrete) or confidence: – faith, hope.
- Believing (Trusting) in God fills you with joy and peace…by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Not circumstances…
- There’s a joy in God using you…
1 Peter 1:6-9 (NKJV) 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation (Second Coming) of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith–the salvation of your souls. (Mind, Will, and Emotions)
- Through trials we can rejoice
- You can “Love” without seeing Him…you can “Rejoice with Joy” without seeing Him.
- Joy is in you already…release it…believe it’s in you. By faith.
- Walk in joy by faith…the feeling comes later…it changes my attitude.
- Whining and complaining is like the Devil handing you a shovel so you can dig yourself a hole…he doesn’t even have to get his hands dirty and calloused.
Peace
John 14:26-27 (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
- Jesus gave us His peace…the Holy Spirit, He is peace…He promotes peace.
- Let Not…this peace is walked out by faith, on purpose…it’s in you.
Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV) 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
- Mind stayed on and trusting Him…brings Perfect Peace…depending on the amount of “Mind Staying” and “Trust” you have on Him…it takes time to work it out!!
John 16:33 (NKJV) 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
- No Joy! No Peace! Hated the ministry…peace and joy comes from God, Jesus says.
- The world brings tribulation…mind stayed on the world, trusting the world will cause you to tribulate…complain and not sleep.
We have to develop a NEW reaction of Joy and Peace when tribulation hits you.
If we do!! It lets God in on the situation…He Knows how to handle tribulation.
It’s in you…in your spirit…By and through the Holy Spirit…you got it from Him…Born Again.
