The Power of Your Tongue
The Power Of Be
James 3:2 Perfect, completely developed. This is progressive.
Proverbs 18:20-21
- Your Tongue is to your life like the steering wheel of your car. Talk in a different direction if you don’t like where you are going. Breaking addictions – fruit of your lips, I can’t quit etc.
- Romans 4:16-18 God calls those things that don’t exist as though they did.
- God taught Abraham how to do this. Started with look at stars, Genesis 15:5 look at the sand.Genesis 22:17-18 (NKJV) 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
- Genesis 17:5 But that wasn’t enough, it wasn’t until God changed his name – by naming him a father of many nations. That is who he was.
- Satan has taught us how to say negative things evil and condemning things, death things, from our old nature.
- But God calls you to speak life and increase. Your words are a dipstick that tells what you have been involved with, the Word and a relationship with God, or the world. Your words reveal what you are.
- It may be time for some of us to have an oil change.
- Time to wake up and get a hold of our mouths and talk Victory, Freedom, Life!
- God did it – Abraham did it – Jesus did it – WE CAN DO IT TOO!
- Isaiah 55:8-11 (AMP) 8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
- Isaiah 55:11 God doesn’t just express thoughts and feelings. He sends them to work and accomplish something. He created us to be like Him and create things with our words
- We have the ability to choose our words carefully, and then send them to accomplish God’s will and purposes.
- Examples:
- Psalm 33:6-9 (AMP) 6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He puts the deeps in storage places. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord [revere and worship Him]; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
- Jesus – Operated this way
- Matthew 8:3 …I am willing be cleansed
- Matthew 8:13 …So let it be unto you
- Matthew 9:28 …According to your faith be it unto you
- Mark 4:39 … Peace be still
- Mark 7:33-34 … Be opened
- Matthew 18:18
- Matthew 21:21-22 (AMP) 21 And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith (a firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done. 22 And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.
- We want to try to argue that we can’t be like God , or Jesus. Genesis 1:26-28
- 1 John 2:6 (AMP) 6 Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.
- Luke 17:5-6 (AMP) 5 The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith (that trust and confidence that spring from our belief in God). 6 And the Lord answered, If you had faith (trust and confidence in God) even [so small] like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be pulled up by the roots, and be planted in the sea, and it would obey you.
- Jesus emptied himself – Philippians 2:5-9
- Philippians 2:5-11 (AMP) 5 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] 6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, 7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. 8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross! 9 Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, 10 That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- Jesus believed the words that he spokeWe need to have the same confidence and believe what we speak will come to pass.
- We need to be able to stop and measure our words to the Word, and then speak.
