Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV)
22  So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.

  • Jesus is instructing us how to have faith in God
  • How to book on how faith works.

23  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

  • There is an emphasis on saying to have faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
7  For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Romans 1:17 (KJV)
17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
6  But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

1 John 5:4 (KJV)
4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

How do we

  1. live by faith
  2. walk by faith
  3. overcome by faith

By believing and saying and decreeing a thing!!

2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
13  And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,

  • Do we have the same spirit of faith as Abraham, David, Daniel…YES
  • If they believed and spoke…We believe and speak also…how faith works has not changed.

James 1:18-19 (New King James Version)
18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

  • Swift to speak, share opinion, get your 2 cents in before anyone else…NO
  • Lots practice this verse in reverse
  • Are we slow to talk…
  • Are we slow to wrath…

~ That’s the way I am…I inherited it from my family…

~ You can’t control it!!!    That’s just the way I am!

People do what they can get away with.

EX: people in cars…cut others of, the bird etc.…would not do that in a Walmart line.

EX: man smacks his 120# wife around…be in a room with 250#, 6ft 5” linebacker…he has control now?

Say out loud!!!

“I am swift to hear”

“I am slow to speak”

“I am slow to wrath” “Get angry” …that’s me

James 1:23 (New King James Version)
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

  • Not a hearer only but a doer…
  • How do we do the word?

The Primary Way of Being a Doer

James 1:26 (New King James Version)
26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

  • If you don’t “Bridle your tongue” your religion is useless. (Is this True?)
  • We are not usable for the Kingdom of God…Ambassadors are disciplined in what they say.
  • We’re not representing OUR agenda, We representing HIS Agenda.
  • #1 way to be a doer of the word is speaking the word…consistently with purpose.
  • This is how we “Live and walk by faith”…be deliberate about what you say.

James Chapter 2…Faith without works is dead

James 2:24-26 (New King James Version)
24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

  • Rahab said “We know we were done for as soon as you crossed the Red Sea…God was with you!”
  • Everyone had been talking about it and know in their hearts…”we are doomed!!!” (Saying it for 40yrs)
  • Her faith was with corresponding action…speaking it.

James Chapter 3…The Primary Action of Faith

James 3:1-17 (NKJV)
1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.
2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

  • Perfect man – A mature, disciplined man.

James 3:2 (AMP)
2 For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature.

  • The secrete to a faith filled life is “Not Stumbling in Words”…”saying the right things”
  • We can control (Bridle) our lives with words.
  • Acting in faith is saying! Doing the works of faith is saying.

3 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. (Control its destination)
4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. (Controls its destination)
5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; (Controls its destination) and it is set on fire by hell.

  • Are our lives where they are due to the words we have been speaking?
  • Has Hell had our tongues? Killing, Stealing, & Destroying!
  • Can we change the course of our lives by speaking different words…words that come from above.

7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

  • I can control other animals destiny’s…but I can’t control another man’s tongue.

9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

  • Our mouths should be “Blessing and Blessing”

11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?
12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie (Speak) against the truth.
15 This wisdom (Words from the heart) does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. (WOW)
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing (KJV Work) are there.
17 But the wisdom (Words from the heart) that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

  • Our mouths were designed to speak FROM ABOVE !
  • Does our words matter????
  • Do we believe our words matter????

Sharris and I used to live this way…survived this way

  • Early years we had to believe and speak…in the natural our financials were not enough.
  • Fulltime ministry $20,000/yr + Part time print job. It was not enough.
  • Yet we always had enough, even tithes and offerings included.

In creation…God spoke it out and the Spirit brought it to being.

  • “Let there be light!” “Now!! What else do I need to do?”

Ephesians 5:1 (NKJV)
1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

  • Are we to do things the way our Father God does things? Imitate Him? Be like Him?
  • “Your trying to act like Jesus.” Jesus acted like His Father. When Jesus said something it happened, just like His Father.
  • Are we imitating our Father the way Jesus imitated our Father…believing and saying
