Proverbs 23:7 (New King James Version)
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
Don’t think…what if I fail? Think…What if I succeed?
Because this is not your natural habit pattern for your life so it feels foreign to you.
Disgust
Disgust is what you feel when you’re tired of being embarrassed, ashamed, and humiliated with where you are, and you develop a compelling vision to change!
Disgust can become a strong motivator to make changes in your life
Don’t Settle Where You Are
Genesis 11:31-32 (Amplified Bible)
31 And Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together to go from Ur of the Chaldees into the land of Canaan; but when they came to Haran, they settled there.
32 And Terah lived 205 years; and Terah died in Haran. (Never fulfilling the dream)
Nehemiah 9:7-8 (New King James Version)
7 “You are the LORD God, Who chose Abram, And brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, And gave him the name Abraham;
8 You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites, the Amorites, The Perizzites, the Jebusites, And the Girgashites– To give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, For You are righteous.
Hebrews 11:15 (Amplified Bible)
15 If they had been thinking with [homesick] remembrance of that country from which they were emigrants, they would have found constant opportunity to return to it.
- Terah was going to Cannan but got complacent and settled for Haran
- Abram was not content. he wanted to get on with it.
- As soon as his father died, God called him to fulfill his destiny in Canaan.
- He obeyed and rushed into Canaan, trusting God will make him richer than he could’ve been in the city
- he wasn’t willing to settle for the easy city commerce but wanted something greater.
- God gave him a picture of being a great nation and walking so blessed that he would be a blessing
- When you trust your dream to God He will make it happen.
Swiss Alps – half way up and settled in the lodge never making it to the top.
- I fight this same tendency… And so do you.
- James 2:23 (New King James Version)
23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. - Terah could have been known in the Bible as “the friend of God” rather than his son Abram.
Don’t limit God, he is capable of doing impossible things in your life, but you can actually prevent him from doing them by thinking small. If you think in terms of “just enough to get by “and that’s exactly what you will produce in your life.
- Church…from a house to downtown…to Brockhurst .
- Fixing up this church.
- Having an inner image of our next church…
- Sowing to other buildings for our own.
Achieving success is like knowing the combination to a lock.
If you know the combination, it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, 16 or 65, have an IQ of 35 or 135, the lock has to open. This is a spiritual law that works for whosoever is willing to operate it.
Together, we’re going to take what God has given us today and build it, through spiritual principles, to something greater than what it is today.
Jim Carey
Jim Carey, while on the Oprah show, admitted to the audience of that before he ever hit stardom or achieved success, he visualized himself succeeding. As a struggling young Canadian with no money he drove his old truck up Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles every night and would visualize having directors interested in him. He would imagine people who he respected actually saying to him, “I like your work.”
In 1985 or 1987, says Carey, “I had nothing at that time. But it just made me feel better, I would drive home and think. I do have these things. They are out there. I just don’t have a hold of them yet.”
- Notice, doing this just made him “feel better” … He had no idea he was operating a spiritual law.
- He was calling things that be not as though they were…
- Romans 4:17-21 (Amplified Bible)
17 As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.
18 [For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be.( Stars…)
19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered (inner Picture) the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered (Inner Picture)] the barrenness of Sarah’s [deadened] womb.
20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning (Bigger Picture) the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,
21 Fully satisfied (Felt Good) and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised. - Whichever picture is biggest is what you are…too old for kids…what God said
- Life to a dead career… Seeing and saying “it exists “as if it did.
- Even when there was no hope… He believed it anyway and it came to pass.
- EX: Like Electricity…man faith in self (Little Shock…some results) faith in God (Blow your socks off)
- Faith in our natural abilities gets some results…but include Super God with our natural…Supernatural
- Get guitar player + God (Anointing) Super guitar (anointed)
- This is how God operates, this is how Abraham and Sarah operated, and this is how we operate.
- See the combination to the lock? See the pattern of a successful life. This is God’s plan for life.
Some people might say, “this sounds like that visualization and new age stuff.”
No, that sounds like this.
God is the original, that’s a cheap copy… But because it’s the law it works for whosoever…Mk 11:23-24
- Whether you’re in a Rolls Royce or on a moped it got me there…but why not go in style…go with GOD!
Matthew 9:28-29 (New King James Version)
28 And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” (Can you see yourselves Healed already?) They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith (How you see yourself) let it be to you.”
Matthew 9:29 (The Message)
29 He touched their eyes and said, “Become what you believe.” (What you see on the inside)
- They believed with a resounding, “yes, Lord”
- believing is… Seeing Jesus heal them before they were healed.
- Jesus said, “according to your faith, (what you see in your spirit before it happens) let it be to you.
- As the message translation says “become what you believe”
there is two kinds of site:
- You see with your physical eye… Physical world.
- Spiritual eye (Hope Heb 11:1) faith is the material substance of hope (what you can’t see in the natural but can see in the spirit.
- 2 Corinthians 5:7 (New King James Version)
7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Woman with an issue of blood
Mark 5:25-34 (Amplified Bible)
25 And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
26 And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse.
27 She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment,
28 For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.
29 And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment.
30 And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes?
31 And the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me?
32 Still He kept looking around to see her who had done it.
33 But the woman, knowing what had been done for her, though alarmed and frightened and trembling, fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your [distressing bodily] disease.
- Kept Saying… Rehearsing it, over and over again. Meditating on it (murmuring to herself), telling her friends, and family…” If only I could just touch his garment I would be rid of this disease.
- As she spoke, she could see herself without the disease. And she’s Rehearsing it in her mind over and over again.
- The image on the inside of her trusting with confidence Jesus healing her, got so big that when she acted on it, it came to pass.
What picture do you have operating on the inside of you?
What do you need to see inside before God can produce it on the outside?
Do you need to see yourself:
- rising to the top of the company
- paying off your credit card debt
- going into ministry and serving God
- Weighing your ideal weight
- starting your own business
- being healed of a chronic disease
Mark 10:27 (Amplified Bible)
27 Jesus glanced around at them and said, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.
