1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NKJV)
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Full Redemption)
24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
- We are a 3 part being…Spirit, Soul, and Body
- I am a spirit, I have a soul, and I live in a body.
- God’s plan is to preserve us blameless…Spirit, Soul, and Body
- No age requirement mentioned
- When did we become Spirit, Soul, And Body?
Jeremiah 1:5 (New King James Version)
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
- John the Baptist leaped in his mother’s womb!
Luke 1:41-42 (New King James Version)
41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
Body
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (NKJV)
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation (creature…KJV); old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
- Don’t look at each other as flesh beings…we are spirit beings
- Stop looking at your children as “Little people” or “Too immature”
Intellect
Matthew 18:1-4 (New King James Version)
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,
3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:4 (Amplified Bible)
4 Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving] is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
- “Little Child” in the greek here means an infant to toddler.
- Children are humbled to have to depend on their parents.
- Dependence means vulnerable, trusting, open.
Children are open and willing vessels.
- Innocent – most carry little to no baggage
- Filters – Everything that we said to our kids was truth.
- We as adults have intellectual filters that we filter spiritual truths through.
- But children don’t have these intellectual filters. In fact the younger they are the less filters they have.
- This is the point that Jesus was making to his disciples.
- So children are able to understand Spiritual truths better than adults because of their lack of intellectual filters.
- They have an advantage over us because they don’t have those intellectual filters that hold them back from receiving.
- You need to put faith in your children, that they can put faith in God.
- Example of simple faith – children believing in Santa Claus.
- Covers the whole world in one night.
- Comes down a chimney that they don’t have.
- Can’t sleep for the anticipation of his arrival.
- Ex: Milk and cookies left out for Santa
- We should be so easy to receive truth from the word.
Children are drawn to the Spirit of God. They can sense the spirit realm. If you’re your full of fear then they feel that fear. If you are full of faith then they are full of faith. They are super sensitive to the spirit realm.
Mark 10:13-16 (New King James Version)
13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.”
16 And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.
- Jesus imparted a spiritual blessing on the children, why would he do that if they couldn’t understand or benefit from it
Jeremiah
Jeremiah 1:4-7 (New King James Version)
4 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” (17-20yrs of Age)
7 But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
- God does not consider age when calling someone.
- He can use anyone, regardless of physical age or appearance.
- Caroline Savelle said, “God called me into the ministry at age 8.”
- They just have to be willing vessels
- Jeremiah had spiritual capacity and potential before he was born.
- You need to minister to your kids…” You have spiritual capacity. Receive your healing.”
Samuel
1 Samuel 1:24-25 (New King James Version)
24 Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh. And the child was young.
25 Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli.
- She weaned him – kids were nursed up to 7 years old.
- And the child was young.
1 Samuel 2:11 (New King James Version)
11 Then Elkanah went to his house at Ramah. But the child ministered to the LORD before Eli the priest.
- Notice that as a child he was able to minister to the Lord. Perform spiritual duties at 7 years old.
1 Samuel 2:12 (New King James Version)
12 Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD.
- What his Mother taught him from infancy to age 7 sustained him and kept him walking and serving the Lord faithfully. (In the midst of corruption)
1 Samuel 2:26 (New King James Version)
26 And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the LORD and men.
- He continued to grow in stature and favor with the Lord and with men. (Luke 2:52)
1 Samuel 3:1 (New King James Version)
1 Then the boy Samuel ministered to the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.
- God wasn’t speaking to anyone at that time.
1 Samuel 3:3-4 (New King James Version)
3 and before the lamp of God went out in the tabernacle of the LORD where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down,
4 that the LORD called Samuel. And he answered, “Here I am!”
- Of all the adults in all the land God chose Samuel, a child to speak to.
- God spoke to Samuel and established him as a prophet while he was a child.
- He was the finest prophet that Israel ever knew.
Genesis 18:16-19 (New King James Version)
16 Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.
17 And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,
18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
- God knew that Abraham would be faithful to teach his children about the Lord from a very young age.
1 Samuel 16:6-7 (New King James Version)
6 So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, “Surely the LORD’S anointed is before Him.”
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
- It is believed by scholars that David was around 17 years old when anointed to be king of Israel.
- But he developed from a very young age a relationship with God that brought him to being anointed King at age 17.
- For man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. (The spirit and soul of a man)
1 Samuel 16:11-12 (New King James Version)
11 And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.”
12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”
- He developed his relationship with God from early childhood, which propelled him into being anointed King.
Acts 13:21-22 (New King James Version)
21 And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’
Genesis 37:2 (New King James Version)
2 This is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers…
Genesis 37:5 (New King James Version)
5 Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.
- Joseph was 17, but developed a relationship with God as a child.
- God entrusted him with visions and dreams (spiritual things) as a child.
- He held on to them, for thirteen years and everyone of them came to pass.
Can children receive spiritual things from the word of God, and grow and operate in them… YES!
Next we are going to talk about developing a healing environment.
