Renewing your minds to the Word of God

Romans 12:2 (New King James Version)
2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

  • Conformed means to be poured into the mold…
  • Transformed is metamorphoo – a caterpillar into a butterfly.(how?)
  • By renewing your mind with the Word. (to what?)
  • The good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
  • Our goal as parents is to teach and train our children form being parent dependent to being God dependent.

So, do we think:

  • I’m sick
  • I’m Bedridden
  • I’ve had this for years
  • It’s my lot in life

Or are our minds renewed:

1 Peter 2:24 (New King James Version)
24  who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed.

Matthew 8:17 (New King James Version)
17  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”

  • I’m whole
  • I’m well
  • Jesus already healed me 2,000 years ago

Advertisers spend millions of dollars to put slogans in our minds. It’s the power of repetition to get you to buy their product. (get the people to guess these)

  • Be all that you can be – US Army
  • Breakfast of Champions – Wheaties
  • Eat More Chicken- Chik -Fil -A
  • Good to the last drop – Maxwell House Coffee
  • Give me a break, give me a break, break me off a piece of that… – Kit kat bar

You didn’t set in front of a mirror and force yourself to memorize them.

  • Repetition and immersion – it was automatic
  • Renewing our minds comes from repetition and immersion

Romans 10:17 (New King James Version)
17  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  • Faith comes by repetition of the word of God.

Joshua 1:8-9 (New King James Version)
8  This Book of the Law (Word) shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

  • Keep it in your mouth
  • Meditation – murmur or speak, mutter
  • Meditation is speaking the word out of your mouth day and night.
  • It will cause the Word to be fulfilled in your life.
  • Then you will prosper and have a successful life.

Repetition and immersion is the key

Toddlers learn:

  • How to walk
  • How to eat with spoon/fork
  • How to behave socially
  • How to speak a language

All this is learned by observation and repetition and immersion.

When you live your everyday life of trusting God, openly in front of them. They will pick it up as normal life.

What is naturally preformed in the household routine, a child will pick up naturally.

They are receptive to whatever we expose them to. They will pick up and learn through watching you:

  • Praying for boo boo’s
  • Speaking the word and positive declarations
  • Reacting in faith and not fear in emergency’s

Proverbs 13:3 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)
3  Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.

Proverbs 18:21 (New King James Version)
21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Mark 11:22-24 (New King James Version)
22  So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.
23  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
24  Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

  • Don’t speak to God about the illness, instead speak to the illness about God

Examples:

  • Speaking to growth on ear.
  • Speaking to my back
  • Children’s church – Warts falling off of Luke’s legs by the kids speaking to them.

Abraham

Genesis 12:1-2 (New King James Version)
1  Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
2  I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

  • Isaiah 46:10 (New King James Version)
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’
  • God spoke the end from the beginning!

Genesis 13:14-16 (New King James Version)
14  And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are–northward, southward, eastward, and westward;
15  for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.
16  And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered.

Genesis 15:1-5 (New King James Version)
1  After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
2  But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”
3  Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”
4  And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”
5  Then He brought him outside (get out of your tent)and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

  • He showed Abraham the sand during the day, and the stars at night.
  • God’s building an inner image inside of him that he is a father of a multitude.
  • Habakkuk 2:2-3 (New King James Version)
2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
3  For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

Genesis 17:1-8 (New King James Version)
1  When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
2  And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
3  Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:
4  “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
5  No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.
6  I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
7  And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.
8  Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

  • Gods calling things that be not as though they were.
  • Abram… High Father, honored Father
  • Abraham… Father of a multitude

God built an image inside of him that he looked at every day, and every night.

God put him in an environment of – “I am a Father of a Multitude.”

And it didn’t stop there, but He changed his name so that he and everyone around him would speak it – That he was a father of a multitude. And it came to pass.

Romans 4:17-22 (New King James Version)
17  (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed–God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;
18  who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
19  And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
20  He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
21  and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
22  And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

Kenneth Hagen Testimony

  • Filled himself with the word
  • Spoke it with his mouth I am healed
  • Crawled out of bed – corresponding action (James 2:17 – faith alone without works is dead)
  • Make little of their illness, and make big their being well.
  • When you see faith manifesting in their heart challenge them to do something that they couldn’t do before.
